How to practise IELTS collocations

A collocation is a pair or group of words that native speakers naturally use together, such as make a decision, commit a crime or a growing concern. In IELTS, accurate collocations are part of your Lexical Resource score in Writing and Speaking.

What is on this page?

Each unit covers one common IELTS topic (education, the environment, health, technology, work, crime and more) or academic language for Writing Task 1 and Task 2. Do the book exercises first, then try the extra practice to check that you remember the collocations.

Is it free?

Yes. All the practice on this page is free, and your progress is saved in your browser on this device.
